My work is inspired by the natural world. I seek to communicate it's essence rather than replicate an image in detail.
My aim is to capture light and mood.
The memory of a scene is far more interesting to me than the detail. The mood, the light and how the atmosphere affects me.
I work from observation, photography and memory to capture an image and later reference it to produce a painting that reflects the complex spirit of nature.
Crismas Wood artworks are primarily oil on hand primed board or canvas. I use oil paint because the colours and textures are so rich it helps me to achieve the soft dream like quality that I aspire to in my paintings.Categories: Artist.
