Dr. Sykes qualified as a doctor from Nottingham University in 2006 and moved to Gloucester to take up a post as a junior doctor in Gloucester Royal Hospital. From there she gained a wide range of experience at Queens Medical Centre in Nottingham, the Leicester Royal Infirmary and Leicester General Hospital. Dr. Sykes completed her GP training in 2011 and spent several years working at NHS practices in Leicestershire. Dr. Sykes returned to her home-island of Jersey in 2013 where she joined a local GP practice.
