About
We launched my album 'The Other Country' in Jersey on the 30th November 2013. It was the culmination of a seven year journey.
I'm looking forward to the Stockholm launch of this album - the majority of songs having been written during my 3 year period there. It is a coming to terms album, exploring issues of identity and belonging, disenfranchisement and a reinvigoration of what allows a person to grow.
The early influences of Esther’s life have been political, literary and musical. With a European background which takes in Germany, Sweden, France, the UK and the Channel Islands, she draws on a complex tapestry. Her work is not easy to pigeonhole, influenced as it is by the complex geography of her life and the tributaries that feed into her voice and the sense that it carries of these shadow countries.
