FML was established in 1996 and has maintained its focus as an independent owner- managed firm providing professional but flexible trust and corporate services to our clients. We believe that this makes us ideally suited to entrepreneurial type holding structures; as we are able to consider each client in the light of their individual profile rather than being restricted by stringent generic acceptance criteria. We make every effort to fully understand our clients’ needs and their circumstances so that we can provide robust and intelligent mind and management to the structures for which we provide services.
FML is trustee to a number of family discretionary trusts which are mainly governed by Jersey Law; however we also manage trusts governed under English; Bermuda; Hong Kong and Lichtenstein law. The trusts’ hold a variety of assets; to include but not limited to; investment portfolios; real estate; underlying trading companies; private equity and royalties. Some of these assets may be held directly; though more commonly through a subsidiary holding company established in a tax neutral jurisdiction.
We are able to establish and manage companies in a number of leading tax neutral jurisdictions including; but not limited to; Bahamas; British Virgin Islands; Cayman Islands; Jersey; Guernsey and the United Kingdom. This allows our clients flexibility of choice of jurisdiction to support their underlying activities; centralising control and management in Jersey which provides a secure; well respected and responsive jurisdiction.
We do not provide in house tax or legal advice and whilst a ‘one stop shop’ may be the best solution for some clients; many others prefer to maintain a distinction between the professional relationships in the knowledge that this independence allows each party to consider the client’s best interest without conflict or partiality.
