What is a Hackathon & what is Fintech?
A Hackathon is a community event aimed at gathering as many members of the local digital, technical and creative communities as possible and encouraging them to work together to build a really cool app, site, solution or thing.
A contraction of the words ‘Financial’ and ‘Technology’, FinTech has become a ubiquitous term for any technology applied to financial services, typically where a technology is sold into the financial services sector working for the back office functions of these customers. But recently the term has started to be used for broader applications of technology in the space – to front end consumer products, to new entrants competing with existing players, and even to new paradigms such as Bitcoin.
Who is this event for?
While seemingly more specialised than our last event, this year's Fintech hackathon should appeal to a similar range of people.

…and more so if you fit into any of the above categories or simply have in interest in developing solutions around financial services then this event is for you.
Ages 16+
Adults (18+) are free to register in their own right.
Juniors (16+) may register but must provide a consent form signed by their parent or guardian.
