Insects of the Channel Islands

Welcome one and all smile emoticon This group is to help promote knowledge and interest in the insects and other invertebrates of the Channel Islands (in the British Isles).
Invertebrates are invaluable to life on Earth and we need to take care to help protect them and it is hoped that through this group we can all learn more about how important these species are.
All invertebrates are welcome to be posted here, both marine and terrestrial, and please state where and when found and, if known, then the species Latin name too (and any English common name if the species has one)
Any news articles or information that has a bearing on our local invertebrate fauna are welcome to be posted here too.
For any invertebrate finds from Jersey if you do not already submit records to the local Jersey Biodiversity Records Centre, but would like to contribute to our local records, then if you could provide details of where, how many and when anything was found then I will happily submit these records on your behalf smile emoticon
Other Islands have their own Records Centres and all records should be submitted to the relevant organisation.
Most importantly though, hopefully we can all learn more about our invertebrate fauna and appreciate their beauty and importance ... and hopefully have fun while doing it!
