I am an amateur photographer who began a journey of discovery into the world of photography on 1st Jan 2013 as part of my New Year's resolution plan. I am still absolutely loving it, have learnt so much along the way and have been gradually investing in more equipment.
I was born (almost 40 years ago) and still live in Jersey, Channel Islands. I loved art and design as I was growing up, particularly painting and even up until having children I would love to paint sea/landscapes. However, space and time disappeared to make way for all the kids toys etc so my painting took a back step. It wasn't until a chance meeting with a neighbour who is an event photographer that we got talking and I tried out some sports photography. I had never been interested in photography before but jumped at the chance and cutting a long story short, I became quite passionate about sports photography, rugby in particular (and I still am). However, in January 2013 I decided to take my love of painting landscapes and try out landscape photography. I haven't looked back and have even been fortunate to win a number of trophies and local competitions too!
Jersey is undoubtedly one of the best places to photograph (well I am a bit biased) but honestly, for an island only 9 miles by 5, it offers an extraordinary wealth of opportunities everywhere you go. I love just getting out there, breathing the fresh air and capturing a memory whether it be a beautiful sunrise, a dramatic sunset, a storm or the stars on a clear night. As a self-confessed weather geek, I love all opportunities that are thrown at me!
