The Jersey Botanic Garden Trust’s (JBGT) vision is to set up and run a world-class botanic garden dedicated to the conservation and propagation of Mediterranean-zone island plants including Jersey native species. Its aim is to create a ‘Green Ark’ in Jersey where people can explore the wonders of the plant world whilst enjoying the facilities of a premium tourist attraction. Jersey’s climate is perfect for this and means we can grow a very wide range of plants without the need for glasshouses.
The JBGT’s mission to create a botanic garden in Jersey is perfectly aligned with Jersey Tourism’s published strategy for the island, with Jersey Tourism’s target market being the same as that for a botanic garden. Working closely with the Royal Botanic Gardens, Kew (RBG Kew), with whom the JGBT has a long association, the JGBT will produce an experience that appeals to this important market segment, so assisting the island’s tourism industry.Categories: Environmental Consultants & Management, Garden Designers, Gardening Advice.
