Jersey Lilies
www.jerseylilies.com/info@jerseylilies.comAbout
We are a women's Morris dancing side from the lovely island of Jersey in the Channel Islands. Our repertoire is made up of a variety of dances because if we see a dance we like we adopt it. In the Photo Gallery you will see photographic evidence of previous frolics and trips.
The 2014 programme started with our traditional May Day celebrations with our male counterparts Helier Morris. This year Helier organised the programme and we danced and pranced in each of the twelve parishes of Jersey. Although most sides start dancing at sunrise we wait until after sun rise to give us a little more time in our cosy feather beds. After all we are out and about on our feet for twelve hours.
On May 9th we made a trip to Guernsey to celebrate the 30th anniversary of The Belles and Broomsticks which coincided with Liberation Day - a very important day in Channel Island history. We had our fingers crossed for good weather and calm waters and had the good weather and lumpy sea. One of out two was not too bad. Those Lilies that wilted soon blossomed once on firm land. This website contains a vast array of amazing facts, figures and piccies of our posse of lovely petals. There is plenty of info here for you to be getting on with, but if there's anything missing you're dying to know or you'd like to talk to us about becoming a potential new member (please please!) or you're simply interested in seeing the Lilies in action then feel free to email us using info@jerseylilies.com. We have just resumed our winter practices at Samares School in St Clement on Wednesday evenings.
How we blossomed. A potted (oh we do like our plant puns...) history of the Lilies is now available on the From Bulb to Blooming page, kindly provided by Anne. Pictures of those dark days have also now been transformed from the original cave paintings into digital imagesCategories: Dancing Academies.
