In Jersey, there is an annual festival, where anglers of all skill levels compete to become the best in Jersey. Running for a full week, 24 hours a day, consisting of 2 weighing slots per day, each angler competes to achieve a place in the top 5 of a 9 section leader board. These 9 categories are divided into species, with a minimum weight limit to even qualify, with a breakdown as follows; ‘Bass’, ‘Ballan Wrasse’, ‘Black Bream’, ‘Conger’, ‘Ray (any) and Flatfish’, ‘Mackerel, Scad and Garfish’, ‘Thick-Lipped Grey Mullet’, ‘Golden Grey and Thin-Lipped Mullet’ and, ‘Best Other Species’. As the week continues, and the species begin to fill the board, the 5th place fish then becomes the minimum qualifying weight; if this weight is not bettered the fish will not qualify.Categories: Festival, Fishing - Angling.
