The Jersey Open Shore Bass Festival is a prestigious event run on an annual basis for all manner of bass angler. The event is classed as an open to attract anglers from all walks of life, all with their own techniques and preferences in catching these highly sought after fish. All competitors are roving with the only restriction to their choice of location being able to access it on foot. There is a strict size limit which must be adhered to, in turn these size limits are dictated by the Sinkers Sea Fishing Club with conservation being its primary interest. With Jersey being surrounded by some of the richest grounds in Europe, the Bass Festival can attract some of the best anglers.
To add to the Bass Festival’s appeal, there are various sections an angler can enter based no their chosen preference of fishing for this species. The main open section allows anglers to compete with Bait and Lure tactics in an attempt to capture the largest single Bass to bring to the scales. In recent years, a Catch and Release section has been introduced for the club to maintain its interest in conservation, whereby fish are measured, photographed, and returned alive. With the event attracting a large number of overseas anglers, there is also a hotly contested set of visiting anglers prizes.
