The aim of the current JVA is to promote all types of volleyball within Jersey; from beach to indoor, from beginner to Island standard. The Association is run by an elected Committee comprising President, Secretary, Treasurer and various other officers. The JVA is self funding, with support from various sponsors who ease the financial requirements.
The Jersey Volleyball Association was formed in 1978 in order to introduce volleyball to Jersey. Since that time it has been a constant presence in the Island teaching new players, maintaining a league structure and competing in competitions such as the Island Games.
The Indoor season usually runs from October to May when proceedings transfer to the Beach.
In an Island Games year Island trainng will continue through to the Games which are usually held at the beginning of July.
The league structures are supervised by a Committee of elected officers who are elected annually. This committee meet on a regular basis to ensure that protocols are maintained and items organised.
The Indoor League consists of a Mens, Womens and Mixed section, and recently a Corporate leg has been added. Juniors are catered for with weekly training sessions and inclusion into the main leagues. Island players are selected and trained to compete in various competitions.
Sponsorship is vital to a self funding association, and without this wonderful support it would be difficult to maintain the day to day running.
