Manju was born in India and only moved to Jersey in 2009 to be with his Jersey born wife.
Manju has been practising yoga since childhood. He completed his initial teacher training at the Sivananda ashram in the Indian Himalayas but since then has undertaken further training both in Kerala in South India and the UK.
Manju’s classes are suitable both for beginners who are looking for a good introduction to yoga, seasoned practitioners who are looking for a traditional style of practice and anyone who needs to learn how to relax!
When he moved to Jersey, Manju soon came to realise that the greatest medicine that people living here need is an antidote to stress. He says that a particular observation of one of his first Western teachers “we have an ancient body subjected to a modern problem – living with chronic stress†hit him really hard – it made sense! For this reason whilst his classes are based are on a traditional hatha yoga practice they place a stronger emphasis on relaxation.
Manju believes that many health benefits come simply from being in a relaxed state, as he explains: “Yoga has a multitude of physical and mental benefits but my main goal when I am teaching is simply for people to find by the end of the class they are calmer, happier and more relaxed than when they entered the yoga studio. Many other health benefits will flow naturally from this relaxed state. However, the benefits of yoga are accumulative and you cannot expect a single class to change everything!â€Categories: Yoga.
