The St John Youth & Community Trust was established in 2009. It was created to act as a channel for charitable giving for social projects in the Parish of St John that are not otherwise provided by the municipality, for the benefit of all parishioners but particularly the young and the elderly.
Projects are designed to be tangible and provide a lasting legacy to the benefactors The Trust is a non- political, non religious body whose aim is to benefit the residents of the Parish and for the Trust to grow in the ensuing years.
St John is a beautiful rural parish with a strong sense of community. Over past decades it’s residents and other charitable foundations and organisations have given generously which has enabled this small parish to provide some facilities which have greatly benefited not only parishioners, but the wider island community. However, until now there has been no central generic vehicle for charitable giving within the parish.
The St John Youth and Community Trust aims to provide such a conduit which it is hoped will continue for many years to come so that as and when a charitable or social need is identified funds can be quickly raised. Society continually changes and evolves even in a small community like St John. Ffor example a need was identified for additional facilities for young people in the Parish and this was the catalyst for the Skateboard Park project that was opened in November 2010. The parish is fortunate in that past foresight has resulted in homes being provided for both young families and the elderly. Consequently this small parish has diverse requirements like many other communities.
The Trust seeks to raise funds and commit them to community based projects both large and small which will in turn will help ensure that the parish of St John maintains its strong sense of community and charitable giving. The task for the Trustees is to raise appropriate levels of funds to make these aspirations a reality. Therefore if you are reading this leaflet and currently administer funds some of which could be directed at charitable trusts or you or your family are undertaking estate planning measures please consider The St John Youth and Community Trust.
The aims of the Trust
To act as a channel for charitable giving for social projects in the Parish of St John that are not otherwise provided by the municipality.
