The Third Age refers to the period of time after the First Age of childhood dependence and the Second Age of full-time employment and parental responsibility.
The University of the Third Age is a learning cooperative of older people which enables members to share many educational, creative and leisure activities.
U3A is a university in the original sense of the word: a collective of people devoted to learning, not an academic institution, no qualifications are needed nor earned.
The U3A in Jersey has been going since 2000. We now have 200 members and 20 groups (see Groups page) all of which you are welcome to join for our annual subscription of £12 (yes, that includes the lot).
You will also find yourself invited to ad hoc events, like lunches, coffee mornings and sailing during the Summer.
There is no upper or lower age limit: the only concession we make to age is that normally our events take place during the daytime.
Have no fear: despite its name (University of the Third Age) the U3A is not excessively academic. You can have debates with Michael, but you can also go sailing with Julian.Categories: Activity Club, Education, Language Tuition.
