Will is a founder member of the Jersey Bobsleigh Club. He raced for Jersey for two years before being selected for Team GB in 2008. Will is the manager and driver of a four man Bob. Will is in the junior championship and will qualify as a senior in 3 years when he is 26.
Senior bobs are highly ranked in their late 30’s. Will has been placed 3rd within the Team GB drivers, but this fluctuates on a race by race basis and is closely linked with 2nd place. He is currently ranked as the 52nd driver in the world across the senior and junior circuit. Will is the youngest driver in the GB Team and amongst the youngest racing in the world. Will is aiming for the 2014 Olympics and achieving top finishing places over the next few years.
Will finished in 10th position for the 2011-2012 season of the World Championships and is waiting to hear if he has been selected for GB2 for September 2012. He will be going into Jersey schools on his return in April 2012 to share his experiences and his expertise will be brought back to the Island for local development. Will managed to obtain a significant amount of funding himself and the One Foundation has bridged the gap prior to him relocating to the United Kingdom where other funding streams will become available to him.
He said that the money from the One Foundation allowed him to complete additional training in Switzerland which was unique to all other GB teams.Categories: Bobsleigh.
