We have developed our business over the last 20 years from one man, a digger and a lorry to now providing a total solutions based service, employing over 40 staff and delivering a wide range of services to private and commercial clients. We pride ourselves on being reliable and delivering a quality service at a reasonable price.
With our high level of personal service, a long standing and extensive client base, as well as a reputation for excellence and professionalism, means that we have become the total solutions contractor for the island and we are not only able to encompass what we call our core business of plant and haulage.
SITE INVESTIGATION, SITE HOLES
Most building projects or jobs involving excavation will require a trial hole or site investigation, again, we are able to provide the necessary method statements through to carrying out the digging of the holes, the safe storage of the spoil (separating the top soil) and then re-filling of the holes. We have carried out these works in environmentally sensitive areas where pollution, damage to plants and wildlife is paramount
GROUND WORKS
We have undertaken, as a nominated sub contractor, a number of prestigious building projects, including a full ground works package on the Island’s new incinerator and new diary. We have also provided an ‘up to foundation slab service’ for a number of first time buyer sites reaching a total of 500 homes. We are therefore in a position to advise and assist you so please call to discuss your individual requirements.
BULK EXCAVATIONS
With machines from 1.5 tonnes to 24 tonnes and lorries from 5 tonnes to 26 tonnes we are able to carry out any Island excavation with the right equipment. We carried out the Castle Quays bulk excavation using 26 tonne tipping trailers which resulted in halving the number of lorry movements. Equally we have dealt with private sites on steep inclines where we have had to dig out and ‘pass up’ to a second machine before loading into a lorry for carting away. We also carry a full range of dumper trucks for moving materials on site or over rough ground.
LANDSCAPING (HARD & SOFT)
Whether working with private clients or on commercial sites we regularly carry out all aspects of landscaping from leveling and grading to planting and laying paths. We often organise the transport of large mature shrubs and trees and subsequent planting. We work closely with landscape architects, garden designers and gardeners. For example we worked with Bruce Labey on carrying out both the hard and soft landscaping on the newly developed Jersey Hospice.
SERVICE INSTALLATIONS
We have the expertise to deal with all service installation requirements, including, laying cables, pipes or ducting (roped) and through to backfilling and compacting and organising the final connections to the mains with the relevant service providers. We recently installed a mains electric cable and fibre optic cable for Durrell.
PRECOLATIONS TEST
This involves digging a precise sized hole in a designated area, filling it with water and then monitoring and recording the level of water at set intervals. This process is usually repeated at least twice. We can provide everything from the Method statement, to fencing off the site, digging the hole, delivering the water and monitoring and recording the results for submission to your engineer or the Planning department. For example we recently undertook a full percolation test at a site lying in the St Ouen’s bay which was subject to stringent environmental stipulations and had been the subject of a full environmental assessment and report.
DEMOLITIONS
We have all the necessary experience and machinery to carry out a small internal soft strip right up to a large scale demolition. We will separate all materials and dispose of them under the current guidelines and all the rubble and ground is taken for processing at our La Collette Recycling Centre. We specialise in demolishing buildings which are adjacent or connected to other buildings and can provide ‘suring up’ and underpinning if required.
DRAINAGE / SOAKAWAYS
We have in-house drain layers who are able to undertake all aspects of fowl and storm drainage; from site investigations, mains connections, to installing petrol interceptors, continuation tanks and all types of soak aways.
REMEDATION OF CONTAMINATED LAND
We are able to work with you and the Environmental Department to assess and carry out these type of works.
LANDSLIDES
In the event of a landslide we can provide a 24 hours service in order to clear the area, this is particularly useful when this involves any public road or the blocking of an access way.
TREES AND TREE ROUTES
We work with local tree specialists to safely fell trees and remove the stumps. This often involves the re-landscaping of the area once the stumps are removed
SNOW CLEARANCE
We were heavily involved in dealing with this years harsh winter, from clearing snow at the airport to many private drives our team worked round the clock with JCB’s and front end loaders to re-open many of the islands roads that were blocked.
