Brighter Futures provides an Early Intervention Service for families in Jersey in order to break the intergenerational cycles of disadvantage and to allow families to take control of their lives and their futures. The service is delivered through a range of programmes known as the Journey into Well-Being. Brighter Futures are launching a new project called ‘Community Parents’. This programme is an informal parent support programme in which friendly local parents visit families on a weekly basis. Visits are confidential and are made by appointment.
A Community Parent offers friendly support and shares their experiences. They will offer encouragement and help to build upon skills already practiced in Brighter Futures. They share lots of useful ideas and information, most of all they recognise that parents are the experts with their own children. Community parents are fully qualified and hold a City & Guilds Level 3 Working with Parents. The opportunity to become a Community a community parent is offered to those graduating from Brighter Futures with the necessary identified strengths and also to volunteers from different backgrounds that wish to support parents.Categories: Charities, Community Care.
