Peter Fancourt - Landscape Artist
www.peterfancourtjerseyartist.com/pjfancourt@hotmail.comAbout
I am an Essex born, self taught artist now living in Jersey, the most southerly of the British Channel Islands.
Over a 27 year career as a teacher both in England and here in Jersey I have taught art to young children. I have been exhibiting my paintings here in St Helier for over 10 years
The island I now call home is the inspiration for many of my paintings.
Over the years I have experimented with various styles and mediums, from pen and ink colour washes to watercolour and wire collage. My acrylic paintings quite often feature extremes of sunlight and reflections. My water studies particularly demonstrate this.
EXHIBITIONS
I had my first solo exhibition 'Reflective Blue' in Jersey in 2007 at Studio 18 Gallery in St Helier and continue to show at this Gallery.I also exhibit my work at another local gallery - The Harbour Gallery (Art in the Frame Foundation) in St Aubin. During the summer of 2009 I had work exhibited in their 'Captured on Canvas' exhibition examples of which you can view on my gallery pages.
In April 2010 I had my second solo exhibition again held at Studio 18, St Helier. 'Chasing the Light' looked at the extremes of light and shade in painting. The harsh winter of 2009/2010 was a huge stimulus for me especially the dramatic skies. At the moment I have work hanging in the Harbour Gallery Summer Exhibition in St Aubin.
As a member of the Jersey Arts Trust I exhibited new canvases and prints at 'The Jersey Home Lifestyle Exhibition' at Fort Regent in November 2010.
In 2011 I had work hanging in the Container Exhibition at the Weighbridge St Helier as part of the Jersey Arts Trust Open Studios initiative.
I am available for private commissions and trompe l'oeil work both indoor and exterior. I have my pictures hung both locally and in in private houses worldwide.Categories: Artist.
