SKIPTON OPEN STUDIOS CELEBRATES THE WEALTH OF TALENTED ARTISTS AND MAKERS IN JERSEY AND IS NOW IN ITS SEVENTH YEAR. THE ST HELIER LAUNCH WEEKEND RUNS 20TH, 21ST AND 22ND JUNE. WE ARE DELIGHTED TO INVITE THE PUBLIC TO A TASTER EXHIBITION OF THE ARTISTS’ WORK AT THE CCA GALLERIES INTERNATIONAL,10 HILL STREET, WHERE THE ARTISTS WILL BE ON HAND TO EXPLAIN WHAT’S ON OFFER AND WHO’S SHOWING WHERE. AS WELL AS THE ART EXHIBITION, YURI TOROPSTOV, ARCHILSE’S INTERNATIONAL PHOTOGRAPHER IN RESIDENCE WILL BE OFFERING FOLIO CRITS AND THERE WILL BE A SECOND CHANCE TO MEET OUR FRENCH EXCHANGE ARTISTS JAVIER BELMONT, JÉRÉMY BEZARD, VALÉRIE DECHAUME AND MÉLANIE LEMAITRE AND VIEW THEIR LATEST JERSEY- INSPIRED WORK.
Throughout the weekend there will be community art events around Royal Square, including the hilarious portrait booth and public mural painting. Arthur Lamy will be leading walking tours of St Helier’s public sculptures and monuments. Meeting at George II, Royal Square, every hour from 2pm Friday and Sunday, and from 11am Saturday.
Artists open their studios to the public over the last weekend in June and the first weekend in July. It is a chance for public and artists to meet, to gain an insight into how and where the work is produced, together with the inspirations and techniques involved. Some of the artists will be showing together or exhibiting in heritage sites throughout the Island, many of which are not normally open to the public.Categories: Art Galleries.
