In December 2007 a number of St Aubin residents received a letter from the Connetable of St Brelade inviting them to attend a Forum for the future of St Aubin.
The fact that the letter was delivered by hand, just before Christmas, and the completed application forms had to be returned in a very short length of time concerned various people. The letter indicated that topics for discussion would include parking, traffic - no mention of reclamation as such - however, it was stated that the participants in the Forum would be made up of traders, visitors, boat owners, employees of St Aubin businesses, commercial delivery agents etc and only a small number of actual residents.
It was initially the concern of residents that they would end up having decisions made about their village governed by outsiders. Reclamation of land to create extra parking was increasingly popular with many politicians.
Following a small meeting of residents, attended by Ben Shenton – former resident of St Aubin and interested Senator - it was suggested that we should form a residents association in order to present a united front.
Therefore, on the 13th January 2008, a public meeting was held in the Parish Hall in St Brelade. Many concerns were put forward and it was decided to form the St Aubin Residents Association as soon as possible.Categories: Environmental Consultants & Management.
