AJA is an association of Island based Jersey Chartered Architects who are registered in the Royal Court of Jersey as Architects and resident in Jersey; also being registered with the Architects Registration Board (ARB) of the United Kingdom and/or RIBA Chartered Members. We are bound by ARB’s Standards of Conduct and Practice and/or the RIBA Code of Conduct requiring us to maintain the highest professional standards of honesty, integrity, competence, diligence and trustworthiness. We are required to carry Professional Indemnity Insurance cover to a value commensurate with size of projects we undertake, giving our Clients valuable protection.
We also elect persons of distinction from or connected to the local profession as AJA Honorary Members, and welcome students of architecture as AJA Student Members; these membership categories are free of any annual subscription cost.
The AJA’s general objectives encompass: (a) To advance the art and science of architecture; (b) To consider and safeguard, in the interests of the public, matters of professional practice and conduct; (c) The service as a medium of friendly communication between members and others interested in architecture; (d) To afford facilities for the study of architecture; (e) To provide assistance for members of the architectural profession and their families or dependants who may be in need; (f) Any other local considerations as may be determined from time to time.
The title “Architect†is legally protected by statute and may only be used by fully trained and qualified persons, registered to that effect. Undertakings using terms such as ‘Architectural Consultants’ or ‘Planning Consultants’ don't usually have qualified Architects in control of the Firm and may not carry Professional Indemnity Insurance.
