The Law Society of Jersey is the governing body of lawyers practising as Advocates and Solicitors of the Royal Court of Jersey in the Channel Islands.
This site aims to inform visitors about the Society's composition and activities, and to provide contact information for its Chief Executive Officer, the President of the Law Society and its Committee Members.
The Law Society was founded in 1899 and was incorporated as a body corporate via the Law Society of Jersey Law 2005.
Our Objectives
The objectives of the Law Society of Jersey are set out in Article 8 of The Law Society of Jersey Law 2005:
To encourage and promote the upholding of the rule of law;
To promote high standards of professional conduct among practitioners;
To regulate, foster and protect the interests of its members and the practice of law in Jersey;
To encourage and promote the study of law;
To make representations, as appropriate, on any matter affecting –
the administration of the law, the judicial system or the legal profession,
civil rights or liberties or matters of public interest, or
the enactment of legislation or the review or reform of existing laws.
